Natural Remedies Garlic

This is not a "tricky" question, and I'm not looking for an advice, lecture or a link.
Just curious what people think.

I swear by garlic tablets for my dogs. I have never had a case of fleas or worms in my dogs since I started using it many years ago now. My old dog used to have a terrible flea allergy but once we put her on garlic she never caught fleas again.

The trouble with chemical treatments is that the fleas do become immune to them (much like head lice in humans!) meaning that you need stronger and stronger treatments to kill them. I hate using chemicals on my dogs so tried garlic and its great. Also use it for chickens, put a a couple of garlic cloves in their water to keep mites away - its much used in the poultry world.

Would just like to add that you don't just give the dog garlic when you see fleas and hope they go away, the dog has to take garlic every day as a prevention, not a cure. Garlic is also good for the heart.

I really do not want to take medications for high cholesterol so would appreciate advice on what's out there as natural remedies

Fish oil is excellent (as well as recommended) product to start with. Also if you butter, use Benecol products. They've been proven to lower the cholesterol.

i did hear you could give garlic to discourage dog fleas, how much should you give them and does anyone know how safe it is - i did hear onions can give dogs leukemia. My doggie is an affenpinscher - around 6 kilos

Garlic is not good for her either, but it's not as toxic as onions, which can cause anemia. Takes more garlic to hurt her, but it still can. There are better alternatives for flea control.

Also, what does garlic do for a horse(the fresh kind or dehydrated one?

Okay...so I have been under attack by the yeastie bastards. I treated the infection with Monistat Day or Night first; it didn't work. Then, after that put a dent in my bank ($20), but did not supply results, I used the Equate 3 day treatment. This didn't work either. I started looking online for natural remedies and found garlic was a enemy to yeast. I tried it and low and behold the infection seemed to clear up almost immediately. The next day I resumed sexual activity with my husband as usual, but afterwards I started feeling the itchy feeling and by the morning it had returned.
