it's called "saline". Go get some visine. It's like 95% saline. It is natural, saline is the water in your own body. We all have 0.9% saline(a.k.a. Sodium Chloride (NaCl)) in our bodies. That's why tears taste like salt.

Ok, i have a problem. Sometimes, usually at inconvenient times, unintentionally, my eyes water. I know this can be conceived as normal, but it bothers me. I dont like being thought of as weak or incapable and I dont feel either in these akward situations, but I cannot control the eyes watering. Is there natural remedies or medicine that help dry the eyes?
this is going to sound backwards, but sometimes people with dry eyes have excessive watering. It's like your body is trying to fix the problem. Try some genteal drops at night when you go to sleep. it's thick and coats your eye, if your eyes are less watery the next day then you actually have a dry eye problem. seriously.

I have tried lots of different artificial tears, including ointment and drops, optrex antimist, regular eye drops and seen the doctor - nothing works. By the end of the day my eyes hurt from blinking so much and I find myself going to bed early just to escape the pain. They are so dry and I don't know why or what to do. I went away on holiday for 2 months and I wasn't affected at all, so I am assuming the heat or sunlight helps, but I don't know why. What can I do to help this? Is there any natural remedy I could try?
Are you sure your symptoms are caused by dry eyes and not allergies? You mentioned going away and not being affected at all;maybe you should look into this possibility.
If you really do suffer from dry eyes, there isn't much that you can do naturally except maybe wearing eyeglasses to block air from your eyes, avoiding smoke and using a humidifier.
Your other option would be a prescription for Restasis which treats chronic dry eyes.
Have you tried lubricating drops used by contact lens wearers?

I have been having problems with my eyes lately. Almost everyday, starting in the morning, but getting worse towards the evening (starting after supper) my eyes are very red (blood-shot), irritated, dry, and sometimes blurry (never itchy). Also, there are more than usual secretions (yellowy-white). I have been drinking 'bright eye' tea. It helped at first, but doesn't anymore. I've been drinking plenty of water, and taking higher dose of vitamin C, but still not better. Any natural healthy recommendations? Thank you!
Sounds like you have a viral infection in your eyes. My professional advise is that you take yourself to a doctor and he/she will give you a prescription for "Terramycin", or some other ophthalmic ointment.
The longer you fool around with natural product the worse it will get. A viral infection of the eyes is not going to be cured by natural products.
My concern is that you say, "yellow-white" secretions". If not treated quick it will turn to green pus. And you will require a higher mg., of antibiotics and have to take for a longer period of time.

Excuse my english.
My eye lids are dry. I am looking for a natural remedy that will soothe my eye lids but also allow me to apply eye shadow that will stay on all day. Creme shadow just comes off easily and the powder cakes on. I have tried the primers but have found them to be too drying for eye lids. Any suggestions? Thank you
My eyelids will also dry out from time to time. I found that a light eye lotion and then applying liquid eyeshadow works.

Dry eyes are considered as a rare disease and are seen mostly affecting people above 65 years old. Dry eyes are otherwise called Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca.

Allergies are a major reason for dry eyes. Allergies due to mold, dust, mildew etc can cause dry eyes. Estrogen deficiency during hysterectomy or menopause may also cause dry eyes. Medications like antidepressants, diuretics etc also cause the same.
Infections on the eye surface, eye abnormalities, uses of contact lens also cause dry eyes. Environmental problems like high altitudes, low humidity, over exposure to sun, extreme wind, air pollution etc also act as culprit.
