Any natural remedies for an ear infection on my dog?

My dog has just underwent surgery and for it had to take quite a few meds (antibiotics and pain killers), but now developed an ear infection. I really do not have the money to take her to the vet, and I really do not want any more harsh methods to cure her infection.
Could someone please give me any suggestions? Thanks!

Anyone know of a natural ear infection remedy for dogs?

My Basset Hound has had a couple ear infecions caused by yeast and she has another one now. In the past she has used prescription Mometamax. Is there a natural remedy that will treat and cure the infection? I want to avoid taking her to the vet again if at all possible.
I dont need smart assed answers please, I know what my dog has, I know that Basset Hounds are susceptible to ear infections, I take care of her and Im a big believer in natural cures. If you cant answer my question with a logical, polite answer dont answer at all.
THANKS in advance for your help!

My bulldog Bulldozer used to get sore ears and they smelled like cheese. So my vet said to try vinegar and rubbing alcohol. Fifty percent of each or half and half.
The vinegar breaks down the gunk and the alcohol dries up water from say a bath. I used it after every bath and some times in between. Do not use it more than once a week. Too much drying can be painful. Also the smell of funky ears can draw flies that will bite and aggravate you puppy.

Best to do this outside and only if your dog really trusts you. I had someone else pour in the medicine I would hold him still and hold his ear open. Then we would filler up. Flop his ears closed and massage the sides of his head and then let him go. This is the gross part he would shake his head and any thing loosened up would come out. Every thing would fly out. So we did this outside and in not our best clothes. With a floppy eared dog you will need to wipe away the excess after he shakes his head. Towel drying his head if he goes out in the rain or sprinkler etc is also a good idea. They don’t sweat but their skin and ears produces oil like ours.

Do not use this solution if your dog has open sores the vinegar and the alcohol will sting.

You could get bit or he may never let you touch his / her head again.

Never never ever use hydrogen peroxide. The foaming action causes pressure and can damage their ears permanently.

My french bulldog has constant ear infections!?

Nothing the vet give us helps for more than a few days. I keep hear ears dry, but she also has a lot of allergies. Does anyone know of any natural remedies for dog ear infections or allergies in general that may help her?

I've heard that vinegar can help clean the ears but haven't tried it myself. There's a very interesting article about this, and why some vet medications don't always work in my source you should read it. I hope this helps and good luck :)

Which of these natural remedies works best to cure a dog's ear infection?

And please don't tell me to go to the vet and get more antibiotics. Been there, done that. They don't work as effectively as natural cures do. Plus, would you want your child constantly taking antibiotics? its unnatural and unhealthy.
I have a bichon frise and i've read that with bichons, ear infections are common. i don't have the money to keep going to the vet every time he has an infection. and please don't tell me that i don't care about him if i won't take him to the vet. i care enough about him not to keep giving him antibiotics and to spend hours each day trying to find a natural cure.
I've spent many hours online and i've found a few. which one works the best?

1. equal parts white vinegar and alchohol
2. equal parts white vinegar and water
3. equal parts apple cider vinegar and water
4. 2 parts water, 1 part apple cider vinegar
5. equal parts peroxide, white vinegar, and alchohol
or is there another one that you've used that works??
And how do i put it in his ears? i've read 2 different ways. should i put it on a cottonball then rub down his ear canal? or should i use a squirt-bottle and pour it in his ear, let him shake, then wipe out the excess?

I have a Lab that has had 4 years of year problems and like you I have gone with all the vet prescribed meds. After trying and trying I have found an ear cleaner made by Ark Naturals and it has all natural ingredients like clove. It works incredible to soothe and clean and prevent. It also contains several antibacterial and natural infection fighting ingredients. You can usually only get it at an all natural or specialty pet store or at the Ark Natural website.
I really suggest using a cotton ball for Your dogs comforter and if you want to do it on a regular basis it is better to keep the fear down. The saturated cotton balls works great.
If you use the ones you listed I would stay away from an alcohol based ones because if the dog as any sore from scratching you are going to have a dog with severe stinging in the sensitive ear canal

home/natural remedy for dog's ear infection?

i have a 2 yr old american staffordshire. i believe he's developed an ear infection: scratches ear, dark nasty mucus junk in his ear, tilts head to side, ear is sensitive to being touched etc. i think he might have gotten some water in his ear during his last bath and it bred the infection. i've done a little research on the internet and was wondering if anyone on here knows of any good home remedies. i'd rather not put him on antibiotics if i don't have to, but if nothing works i will take him to the vet to get some...any suggestions?

oh my mom said when her dog had one the vet said a good way to dull the pain is to give him a little bit of children's aspirin...does that work?
i've actually talked to my vet, we were close friends before he became a vet, he said that there are home remedies that work but he couldn't remember what they were exactly (i called him at home, not the office) and he would recommend that i find a few on the internet and run them by him before spending money on antibiotics.

  • Dog Ear Infections Diagnosed | Ear Infection Symptoms

Dogs are prone to ear infections because of the anatomy of their ears. They have a horizontal and a vertical component to them, so it is hard for anything in there to drain out, like water or debris.

Signs of an ear infection include excessive head shaking, yellow to brown oozing in the ears, or a yeast-like smell. Additional signs of ear infections include redness and swelling.

There are several causes of ear infections. The most common cause of ear infections are due to allergies. Some dogs are more prone to allergies than others; therefore they get more ear infections.

Another common cause is swimming. They get water inside their ears, and because of their difficult anatomy, the water in the ears cannot drain out. Therefore, this provides the perfect environment for bacteria and yeast to grow. It is recommended that if you let your dog play in the water, you dry your dog’s ears thoroughly afterwards.
