I mean the uncomfortable skin itching that is left once the fleas have been disposed of.
Hi there...in all honesty the best solution for treating flea dermatitis is to consider purchasing Frontline, Advantage or Revolution. You can get these either from a vet or 1-800-Pet-Meds: http://www.1800petmeds.com/cat.asp?LV=10 . There are some natural remedies sold at PetSmart called Sentry Natural Defense: http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_d etail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=8455244418 13657&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=25343743 02033681&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534 374302023690&bmUID=1164653100694& ;itemNo=2&In=Cat&N=2033681&N e=2 You could give this a try, however I've found that it doesn't work nearly as well as the other three.
Additionally, please avoid giving your kitty garlic. It causes Heinz body anemia. Here's more on this: http://www.peteducation.com:80/article.c fm?cls=1&cat=1935&articleid=2414

Go to a doctor and get some medicine. "Natural" or herbal remedies can actually do more harm than good. They can delay the time it takes for you to get actual medicine. Also, since most so called "natural" or herbal remedies aren't tested and regulated by the FDA they may contain harmful ingredients. If they do help then mostly it is a case of placebo effect.
I am slowly losing my hair because of seborrheic dermatitis and am wanting to know if there are any natural remedies which can stop the hair loss and stimulate the cells in the affected area to grow hair back.
Hi kelp supplements this cures baldness and also thickens the strands of the hair.
I'm actually using this and the moment and i can see dramatic changes in the way my hair quality looks and feels and also I'm getting. remarks on the way my hair looks.
My son is 2.5 years old. I'm 95% sure he has perioral dermatitis. He has a long history of eczema and allergies. We use a topical steroid on his skin, and started using it on his face, for a rash we thought was "regular" eczema, but probably was just irritation from using a pacifier. Now that the pacifier is gone, the rash is still there (because of the steroids, and several other possible triggers). I've read 101 articles on google about perioral dermatitis and natural "remedies". Now I have a list of things to try, but would like know if anyone has ever had any actual success with them, before I go shelling out a ton of cash. I don't want to resort to prescription medication and antibiotics until I've ruled everything else out.
These are the ones I've read about (but if you have any others I would love to know):
Apple Cider Vinegar
Manuka Honey
Yogurt (would have to be goat yogurt, my son is allergic to cow dairy)
Grape Seed Extract
Calendula Oil
Do any of these work? If they do, how do I use them?
See a pediatrician or a dermatologist. Perioral dermatitis usually affects women in their 20's and 30's, so I wouldn't try anything until you know what you're dealing with. I finally grew out of mine, but there was a topical ointment, something with a name similar to Tricyclomen...that worked very well for me while I had it.
I am interested in trying a natural regamin of food and treatment for my cat's dermatitis. I am disposing of all commercial cat treats and changing her litter to a pine type.
She has been on Purina cat chow (on the vets advice) but it comes and goes and is really bad now. She goes berserk when I try to put the Panalog on her an put the drops in her. I don't seem to be acheiving anything except spending money I can't afford. If I can help her in a natural way I would like to try.
Although I don't think she has fleas I am going to give her a treatment just in case. Ideas about cleaning products ,food, litter etc that might be causing the problem and home cures would be appreciated.
First please do not use pine litter. there sense of smell is great and that is just not good for them
You had the right idea..Food is probably ther problem
Cats are carnivores and many have trouble processing grains
Want to give treats? then a piece of chicken is great. They all sell drie out plain fish treats
A vet recommending cat chow shouldn't even be a vet. rea the label Learn about nutrtion and you should solve this problem
Nutrition since there are so many bad things out there is very important to your cat’s health
Contrary to what you may have heard; dry foods are not a great thing to feed a cat.
Please read the label on what you are feeding? What are the ingredients? Do you know what they mean? Is the first ingrdiant a muscle meat like chicken or meal or other things?

Dry foods are the number 1 cause of diabetes in cats as well as being a huge contributing factor to kidney disease, obesity, crystals, u.t.i’s and a host of other problems. Food allergies are very common when feeding dry foods. Rashes, scabs behind the tail and on the chin are all symptoms
The problems associated with Dry food is that they are loaded with grains and carbohydrates which many cats (carnivores) cannot process. Also, Most of the moisture a cat needs is suppose to be in the food but in
Dry, 95% of it is zapped out of dry foods in the processing. Another thing, most use horrible ingredients and don't use a muscle meat as the primary ingredient and use vegetable based protein versus animal. Not good for an animal that has to eat meat to survive.

You want to pick a canned food w/o gravy (gravy=carbs) that uses a muscle meat as the first ingredient and doesn't have corn at least in the first 3 ingredients if at all. The best food for cats does not contain any grains at all.
Fancy feast is a middle grade food with 9lives, friskies whiskas lower grade canned and wellness and merrick upper grade human quality foods. I would rather feed a middle grade canned food then the top of the line dry food.
Also, dry food is not proven to be better for teeth. Does a hard pretzel clean your teeth or do pieces of it get stuck? http://www.felinefuture.com/nutrition/bp o_ch4a.php
Please read about cat nutrition.

Vetinarian diets The reason your vet thinks so highly of the pet food they sell probably has more to do with money than nutrition. In vet school, the only classes offered on nutrition usually last a few weeks, and are taught by representatives from the pet food companies. Vet students may also receive free food for their own dogs and cats at home. They could get an Iams notebook, a Purina purse and some free pizza. http://iml.jou.ufl.edu/projects/Spring04 /Perhach/PetFood/Vets.htm

Home Remedies For Swimmer's Itch - Causes, Symptoms & How To ...
Swimmer’s itch causes
The itchy rashes appear because of allergic reaction, when the human skin is exposed to the parasites. Incidence of swimmer’s itch is greater during summer, when the warm water is suitable for the parasites to develop on the bodies of the freshwater snails and ducks. Often migratory birds are sources of these parasites.
The longer you spend in the shallow water, during the warm season, more is the risk of developing swimmer’s itch. Moreover, people who do not dry themselves properly after swimming, could easily develop swimmer’s itch.
Swimmer’s itch symptoms
Swimmer’s itch appears as red, raised rash with intense itching. It may develop one to two hours after swimming. Sometimes the itchy rash develops two days after exposure to water infested with the parasites. Often rash might not appear in people affected by swimmer’s itch, although they might experience severe itching.
