Does anyone know any effective natural, or at home remedies for BV?
I am only 13 and I refuse to use a prescription treatment from a doctor or anyone, I don't want anything like that in my body, and it makes it worse anyway. Does tea tree oil work, and if so, how do I use it?
Also, how do I get rid of the fishy smell, because its absolutely disgusting.
Thank you! :)
Sorry, honey, the only thing that's going to cure a bacterial infection is an antibiotic. No, tea trea oil will not cure it.
You could risk leaving the infection and getting Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, which could then make you infertile (meaning you'll never be able to have kids due to the severe scarring the infection will leave behind) and cause severe pain.
Get a prescription for Metrogel or another antibiotic from your doctor.
It's not going to get better without it, only worse.

I have had bacterial vaginosis for over 4 months now and I have gone to my gyno three times. Two of the cream treatments gave me severe allergic reactions and one of the pills didn't work. I apparently have a very small amount of bad bacteria but it just won't go away and I can't have sex and it is putting a huge strain on my relationship. I also apparently don't have enough healthy bacteria either which is why I didn't want to take my gyno's 4th suggested treatment because apparently it is harsh (a seven day pill treatment-cant remember the name). I have been taking probiotics for a month and half now. Is there anything else I can do? I am desperate.
A bacterial vaginosis natural remedy can be used, instead of antibiotics, for treatment. When bad bacteria attack a woman's vagina, many uncomfortable symptoms can be experienced. These include burning, swelling, smelly and unpleasant discharge, soreness, inflammation, urinary discomfort, and pain during sex. Typically, what conventional doctors would recommend would be prescription drugs and creams to deal with these symptoms. However, there are also natural remedies that can help you deal with them.
Naturopathic doctors say that the vagina has its own ecosystem. Both good and bad bacteria can be found in this ecosystem. The good bacteria strains help your body from bad bacteria and other harmful organisms. A bacterial vaginosis natural remedy helps create an environment where bad organisms find difficult to thrive. It also restores the vagina's normal pH, decrease irritation and inflammation, and do away with the infecting organisms. Still, the success of treating this condition is largely dependent on correctly diagnosing the root cause of the problem.
Vaginitis can happen because of 2 main reasons. It can be either from a bacterial infection, or from the fungal yeast Candida albicans. For a successful recovery, it is important that you use the appropriate treatment to target the type of bacteria, yeast or parasite that is invading your body. In the meantime, you should also avoid consuming processed sugar, refined carbohydrates or alcohol.
Ask your herbalist about the following options for a bacterial vaginosis natural remedy that is most suitable for your case:
1. Garlic can help fight against infections as it contains many antibacterial and antifungal properties. This is why it is one of the best herbal remedies for treating bacterial infections such as vaginal infections. If you wish to consume garlic in the form of a supplement, it should contain 5,000 micrograms of alliums (the compound in garlic that contains the highest infection-fighting properties ). Take 1 or 2 garlic capsules per day until the symptoms subside.
2. Goldenseal contains many immunity-boosting properties. It has a chemical that has been shown to fight off bacteria and Candida fungus that reside in the vagina' mucous membranes. Generally, what is recommended is a dosage of about two 500-milligram goldenseal capsules once or twice a day until the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis recede.
3. Tracheal is a traditional herb that you can use to remove toxins such as bacteria or parasites from your body. You can also use this herb to restore a normal flow of bodily fluids. For a home remedy, simply soak one teaspoon of dried tracheal in 1 cup of hot water. Drink this as a tea before bedtime. If you dislike the taste of this tea, you can always consume two 500-milligram capsules of this bacterial vaginosis natural remedy before bedtime daily instead.
I have read many many posts on line, and I have looked online all night... for about 2 months I have had a BAD case of the fishy smell mainly after sex and my husband asked me to fix it LOL... it's horrible and I don't do antibiotics... SO I see very expensive pills for sale and some creams, it seems there should be a more realistic approach and cost friendly... so far I am considering taking a multivitamin that has probiotics in it along with acidolpholus (sp) sorry... and what I am not sure about is what to put inside considering peroxide or garlic oil from what I have read... maybe yogurt??? also I have an active sex life with my husband, so should I take a shower after sex at night and then do the treatments? Also don't want to sound retarded, but I didn't have a mom to teach me these things, I'm 29... should I not use soap inside? Since I have had this awful smell I have been washing...??? Advise PLEASE my poor husband!!! It's so embarrassing... Thanks! It's hard to find en
You don't want to put peroxide inside of you. It can irritate the skin. And soap is bad too. Best bet is to only use water while cleaning your vagina. And don't clean it inside - it cleans itself naturally. Putting foreign things inside can cause for infections.
A lot of times, semen in the vagina can trigger BV. (it does for me). This is because semen is alkaline based and our vaginas are acidic. The semen disrupts the PH balance allowing for bad bacteria to overgrow.
Acidophilous creates peroxide naturally in your vagina. You'd be best off with a dosage of 2billion+. I've used this method in preventing BV - and it has worked quite well for me, personally.
If you get the tablets (not capsules filled - they are grainy your husband will get grainy stuff on his no-no spot) you can place them inside after sex and this should help a lot in preventing BV from developing.
A clove of garlic wrapped in cheese cloth with unwaxed dental floss tied to the end works too. Garlic kills fungus like in a yeast infection (which is often present along side BV) and it has high antibacterial properties.
I haven't tried plain yogurt but hear it works well. Acidophilous is the active cultures that are found in yogurt.

i have had this nasty infection 4 times in the past 6 months. antiboitics take it away but it returns after a short time as i cant get my "good bacteria" to return. is there any cream i can buy to restore my balance?
Actually, that's probably the reason it keeps coming back.
Antibiotics are a nice idea on paper because they kill the bad bacteria quickly... but most people don't realize that it also kills the good bacteria that lives in your intestinal tract and in women's vaginas. Unfortunately, the good bacteria can also help to defend against yeast infections and some bacterial infections, so when the antibiotic killed off that good bacteria, your body had no defense left against the infections. I would recommend starting on a high potency probiotic as soon as possible to help replenish that good bacteria so they can fight against it. If you keep on a good probiotic, you probably won't see the infection come back any time soon.
Also, the other answer that mentioned wearing cotton underwear is a good idea while your body is recovering (to keep the moisture around the vagina lower so it's not as hospitable to the yeast). And yogurt is a good idea to eat because it has probiotics, but it doesn't have as much of a quantity as most supplements of probiotics would. Good luck!
I need help!!! I have battled continuously with horrible BV for almost 6 years. I just don't know what to do. I am so stressed and embarrassed. I have fishy odor and discharge (and it's getting much worse after sex). I have taken antibiotics for the past 2 years, but it doesn't help me...
Any one had any affective home remedies for Bacterial Vaginosis?
Please help me. Thank you all for your time
Bacterial vaginosis can cause a lot of stress and embarrassment, I certainly know what you are going through (I have suffered too...). You should know that BV is caused by an imbalance of naturally occurring bacterial flora. Antibiotics only make things worse- since it violates this balance even more. There are natural cures for Bacterial vaginosis and some of them are more effective than other. I cured my BV naturally and you can do the same. Good luck
