Natural Remedies For Autism

I am doing two things to help my son with his autism. The first is removing red food dye from his diet completely. It has helped with his behavior issues a little, and it's not something he needs anyway. It's made from petroleum, not something I want in his body, so we got rid of it all. This one is tricky because it's in a lot of foods, even vanilla frosting. The second thing I've done, and it's been the most effective, is using a supplement from Melaleuca. This one basically gave me my child back. After starting on this his vocabulary, retention, memory, behavior, cognitive skills all improved, his sleep disorder(which included night terrors and sleep walking) went away, and his sensory issues are almost gone. It's marketed for ADHD and autoimmune disorders, but it works great for autism, too. I am using it with my neighbor's kid who's almost two (I babysit him and do his therapy with him), he has SID with strong red flags for autism, and after only a week we've seen major improvement in him as well, mostly in cognitive and speech. Other than that, finding a really good sensory diet has really helped my son, figuring out when he can handle sensory stimuli and when he can't,and basing our day around that. Yes. Most autism responds tremendously to small doses of live source CoQ10 plus kidney complex, minerals, and a heavy metal detox after their pH is up. Autism always involves weakened adrenals and kidneys, and digestive problems that can be greatly helped with diet. Many practitioners do not support the kidneys and liver while "chelating" a child and it often yields no results. Yet chelation after the minerals are up and the child is supported can work wonders. There are chelating supplements at the listings below that are super gentle compared to most of the methods which are out there, which is why I recommend them.

Jenny McCarthy even came out in a national article about her struggles with the doctors and the ultimate recovery of her son from autism. PS: The FDA just finally admitted mercury fillings are toxic for pregnant women and babies! So the evidence against the vaccines that contain mercury (yes, a few still do) and mercury fillings is mounting.

Please understand that any of these biomedical treatments will not cure/get rid of/heal the autism. They may or may not help manage the characteristics associated with autism in your son, each treatment whether biomedical, complementary, etc. have to be done on a trial basis because although a treatment may work in some, it does not work in all. Just like how autism affects each person on an individual basis so does the different forms of treatments. You'll have to experiment to see which one(s) are most beneficial to your son.

FDA approved medicines for treating autism include: risperidone (Risperdal), clozapine (Clozaril), olanzapine (Zyprexa), and quetiapine (Seroquel). There are other medicines that are used in treating autism and have been helpful, but they are not FDA approved for treating autism but rather other conditions. You may want to try the GFCF diet (gluten free - casein free). In some with autism, they can exhibit low tolerance or allergies to certain foods or chemicals which may contribute to behavioral issues. In some cases their stomachs have a hard time breaking down peptides from foods that contain gluten and casein. With the extra peptides in their system, they may cause disruption in biochemical and neuroregulatory processes in the brain, affecting brain functions. However, as with any treatment with autism, it has to be done on a trial basis, the diet may or may not work, but the only way to know is to try it. You must do your research on it because there are certain ways you should implement the diet such as removing casein first then removing the gluten over a period of time, they can go through withdrawal in which their behavior worsens before it becomes better, etc. You have to learn to read labels and such because gluten comes in many different forms and it can also be found in normal everyday household products which can be absorbed into their system.
