Most things I've seen are just fo calm you down which misses the point. Would really like to hear about something you've actually used and could recommend.
First I would like to say, ADD and ADHD are two very real conditions, and they affect millions of Americans. There are a few behavioral modifications that you can do to help in your condition, the first and most important is to set a routine and stick with it. By placing yourself on a routine you are more able to function with little troubles. In my personal experience (living with ADHD for 25 years now) The best thing you can do is a combo of both medication and behavioral counseling. ADD can attribute to areas in your life that you may not even realize, for instance your Credit, your Job history, as well as your likelihood of being a smoker or caffeine addict. There have been many advances in the past 3 years in helping to treat ADD and ADHD both.

There have actually been a lot of studies that have shown that Fish Oil can help with ADD/ADHD. It seems too simple, and that may be one reason it wasn't really looked at closely for this, but I wasn't surprised it would help when I thought about it. The EPA and DHA in Fish Oil help with all sorts of things including heart health, skin health, and brain health. There was a good article at http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/articl e-391503/Fish-oil-calms-children-better- Ritalin.html that covers some of this as well.
Give it a try... it's economical, safe, and easy. Just make sure that the company you get it from uses Molecular Distillation because that's currently the only safe way to remove any trace contaminants of any heavy metals. Of course, if you aren't sure about the dosage or the benefits, you may want to consult with a holistic doctor, as they may have other additional options available to them.
There are also a lot of people who have found some relief from limiting sugar, artificial colors/flavorings, and going with less (or no) processed food to take away those possible causes as well. From research I've done, Fish Oil tends to help more, but both work even better together. Good luck and I hope I helped!

Hi THere
Here are some ideas to heal the issue.
Causes of ADHD/ADD-like Behavior
A variety of factors can cause the hyperactivity symptoms that can lead to a diagnosis of ADHD or ADD. They include undetected learning disabilities, food and environmental allergies, gastrointestinal disorders such as leaky gut syndrome, systemic yeast overgrowth, known as Candidiasis, heavy metal toxicity, poor diet, nutritional imbalances, and emotional upsets such as those caused by family problems. In some cases, the problem can also be due to undetected vision problems, such as the need for eyeglasses for reading. The overuse of antibiotics, as well as vaccines and immunization, can also cause symptoms of hyperactivity and/or ASDHD/ADD. Antibiotics can trigger allergic reactions and cause the gastrointestinal tract to become depleted of healthy bacteria, leading to candidiasis, while vaccines can severely compromise a child's still- developing immune system, and cause other serious health problems, including neurological damage.
Quick Action Plan for ADHD/ADD-like Symptoms
1. Avoid the use of dangerous pharmaceutical drugs, such as Ritalin and Adderal.
2. Recognize that the majority of ADHD/ADD diagnoses are inaccurate, and can be based on little or no scientific evidence.
3. If you, your child or teen suffer from ADHD/ADD-like symptoms, be sure to explore all possible factors that may be causing hyperactivity. Essential to consider is poor diet, nutritional imbalances, undiagnosed learning disabilities and/or vision problems, lack of emotional support, heavy metal toxicity, and food and environmental allergies, all of which should be screened for.
4. Avoid all sugars, wheat products, refined carbohydrates, sodas, processed foods, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, corn syrup, alcohol, and hydrogenated and trans-fatty oils.
5. Avoid foods high in salicylates such as apples, almonds, oranges, peppers, and tomatoes.
6. Emphasize organic fresh fruits and vegetables, organic whole grains such as amaranth and quinoa, organic free-range meats, poultry, and wild-caught fish, and drink plenty of pure, filtered water.
7. Nutritional supplements include vitamin B-complex, vitamin B3, vitamin B6, folic acid, essential fatty acids (EFAs), omega-3 oils, digestive enzymes, and probiotic supplements such as acidophilus and bifidus bacterium, tinctured zeolite and chlorella.
8. Chamomile, linden flower, milk thistle, and red clover may be useful herbs.
9. If heavy metal toxicity is a factor, consider working with a physician trained in the use of chelation therapy.
10. Many excellent books on healing ADHD are available; recommend "Children with Starving Brains" by Jaquelyn McCandless, M.D., and "A Path to Success" by Lawrence Weathers, Ph.D.

My wife is convinced that she has ADD. While I don't believe in it - there is no scientific evidence that it exists - I want to support my wife. However I can't see her going on a medication like ritalin or other add drugs which have been compared to cocaine and/or actual methamphetamines.
So I would like to recommend to her some diet changes and other lifestyle changes that I know help with her actual issues AND are said to improve ADD. But also I think she is wanting to try drug therapy and I would like to be able to offer her an alternative to that which we could both feel good about.
So my question is: Do any of you take any natural remedies for adult ADD? I want to know if they are effective but more importantly are they safe. I am wondering from health professionals or people who have had these recommended or approved by their health care provider if these things are safe.
Specifically one called "Attend".
Please don't try to convince me to try Ritalin & thanks in advance.
Fish oils are a great help but also look into some B vitamins. I also use essential oils to combat mine. Peace and Calming, Cedarwood, Clarity are a few I bounce around with.
I'm an adult with ADD, and it's really had a detrimental effect on my work life, not to mention my ability to get things done around the house. I was never diagnosed as a child, but realized what my difficulty was once both of my children were diagnosed in elementary school (dad also has ADD). None of us have the hyperactivity, just EXTREME distractibility and difficulty focusing. Adderall has been a godsend for my son, who's taken it during the school day for about four years. I asked my doctor to prescribe it for me just to see if it would help. It did help me to be WAY more productive, but also caused pretty bad mood swings that made it not worth taking. Is there any herbal or other natural remedy that really helps adults with ADD? I'm desperate to find something now that I'm back in school and already struggling to focus and absorb new information.

What Is The Most Common Attention Deficit Disorder Symptom
What is the most common attention deficit disorder symptom? There are a lot of symptoms that could lead to a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) and a lot of these are used to diagnose other conditions also which makes diagnosis challenging.
How can you tell if you or a loved one has ADD? Obviously, the final diagnosis comes after an evaluation by a skilled professional, but the hallmarks of ADD/ADHD include similar childhood symptoms and persistent adult symptoms that interfere with work and relationships, all throughout life:
If a kid has ADD/ADHD, even if he/she is officially diagnosed, he/she is at risk for having ADD/ADHD as an adult. A child with ADD/ADHD typically demonstrates symptoms of not being able to sit still, listen or follow directions, regardless how intelligibly they’re presented. He/she may constantly fidget and tend to blurt out inappropriate comments at inappropriate times. Or he/she might just seem to always be “spaced out” or daydreaming (more common in girls than in boys with ADD).
