I am 27 weeks pregnant, away from my family:-( I have sore throat which leads to headaches sometimes. Does anyone know any natural remedies for sore throat? Thanks!
Thanks guys! Ginger tea with honey helped me heaps. I don't have sore throat anymore but it left me with terrible dry cough:-(
Peel the skin from a small ginger root. Slice the root into thin coins and place the pieces into a small pot of water. Boil the pieces to make tea. The tea should turn a yellowish (straw) or tan color. Add three tablespoons of your favorite honey to sweeten the tea. Sip the hot tea slowly. The tea gives a sharp tingle to the throat after swallowing it. After you sip it, gently clear your throat. This tea also works for trying to get your voice back after a cold.

Sore throat and can hardly talk. I've tried the gargling of salt water, and it just ends up being nasty. (And I love salt so much too!)
Any good reccomendations?
Salt water is great. Keep that up. Salt water is a natural disinfectant. Try a neti pot (I love it). Also whiskey and honey. Honey is a natural antibiotic and whiskey helps with the pain.
You can mix about 1 Tablespoon of sugar into an 8 oz glass of cool water and let them sip on it. The sugar heals and the sugar water coats the throat and soothes like a cough syrup. I used this for years with my daughter. She had asthma and allergies to everything and then her allergies would turn into croup. I didn't like giving her so many meds so I found this old time cure. It helped a lot. She would keep a glass of it by her bed so if she woke up coughing it would soothe her throat and she could sleep better. An old man moved next door to us and he developed allergies to cedar trees in the neighborhood. He had been going to dr.s and I told him about the sugar water and it worked better than any of the prescribed meds did! They used it back when America was being settled toward the west. I don't know if it goes back any further.Years later I saw an old movie where a child got sick on a wagon train and they gave her sugar water for her bad throat! So that movie was being historically correct and I was glad to see it used.Sugar will also cure a cut or sore if you clean the injury, pour the sugar on and then wrap it. Change it in a couple of days.If the baby has a fever give them a baby tylenol or ibuprofin.I hope this helps and your baby is much better!!
