Natural Plant Remedies

The gnats are laying eggs in the top two inches of soil, and that's where your problem is. The larvae can be controlled by removing the top layer of soil and replacing with horticultural sand or potting mix with little peat in it. The gnats are attracted to wet soil surfaces, so do not overwater the plant. I have heard, but not tried, peroxide and water (I think 2 tsp/pint water) sprayed on soil surface, a little dish detergent in the watering can, window spray on soil surface. There is a bacteria but it may be a controlled pesticide in your area. You can soak the soil too, but that's not good for the kitties.

My neighbor's cats like to use my wine barrel planters on my front porch. I can't stand cat poop especially when I walk out or in my front door. It is really embarassing when I have company. Please Help.

A couple things I've tried:
Spreading citrus peels
Sprinkling cayenne pepper
Planting Coleus-Canina

The best for me was the cayenne and the coleus-canina. The cayenne did add some color to ground until it rained or I watered. The coleus canina has a strong odor, so one plant seemed to work for my entire front garden area.

if it's pumpkins , cucumbers etc. it's powdery mildew, to stop it spreading spray with a mix. water and milk, you can't save the already bad leaves, next time you plant, place a soupspoon of milk powder in the hole prior to planting

When I mean natural...I mean no sprays or chemicals. Some kind of natural remedy to keep the bugs off my plant. The plant sits indoors.

try diluted washing up liquid for greenfly.

what kinda bugs?

red spider mites don't like the damp.

best thing to do is google whatever bug you have.

little flying bugs..come from plants bought at grocery store

put a bit of dish soap and water in a spray bottle and spray the plant and the soil .
