Kidney Stones Natural Remedies

Just drink a lot of water. One of my doctors suggested lemonade from concentrate (it's the stuff in a can that you buy frozen from the grocery store), so I went through a whole one of those in 3 days and my stone came out a day or two later. I don't know if it had anything to do with that, but it's worth a shot. Also, there has been research done that Flomax (a prescription drug for enlarged prostates to aid urination) can help the passage of stones, but I think that's still up in the air. Another one of my doctors prescribed it to me, but then the ER doctors said to stop taking it. So I dunno about that one. I hope this helps some! Good luck

My boyfriend had a scan done of his kidneys, and there is definately stones in each one. He's terrified! Does anyone have any home remedy suggestions I can offer him? Also, what can he expect as far as treatment when I finally convince him that ignoring them is not an option?

Cranberry juice won't help much, they are easy to get rid of at the hospital so don't worry. I'm a nursing sister and have a broken kidney (smiles.) So listen to you're aunty Buscemi Babe because I'm promising you there is nothing to worry about, the Doctor will even give you the stones afterwards if you ask.

Hand on heart, once they are out he'll be fine and wondering what all the fuss was about. I've been having treatment on my left kidney since I was 13 and I've never been hurt once.

I have referrenced the book "presciption for nutritional healing" second edition and want to know if there is anything else I can include. I can't go through this pain again and have started drinking more water.

Water is your best bet. Sad but true *burp*

When I had mine last year I did a bunch of research. I joined a couple of kidney stone Yahoo groups. I also came across one or two "miracle" products which were thrashed in those same groups.

I also looked into herbs. While it's possible that there are some which could be of use, it's not a sure thing.

Other suggestions had to do with calcium and I think magnesium....

I asked my urologist about what I had read and he just laughed. He didn't say those things would be useless, but his observations of human nature have led him to believe that people just don't stick with things. So herbs might be good, changing the diet might be good, etc. But the average person is going to keep that up for a few months then relapse.

But drinking more water is easier to stick with.

The diets I refer to depend on the type of stone. There are low oxalate diets. From what I read, death might be preferable.
