My suggestion is very simple: if you have something worthwhile to dream about you will really feel like going to sleep! Think of your "long lost" favorite things and go to sleep! Happy dreams! ;)

Im having trouble falling a sleep. Does anyone have any suggestions with out sleeping pills?
There is a pill called melatonin that is not a sleeping pill. It is made naturally by the body and sometimes when your body doesn't produce enough melatonin you can supplement it with a pill (melatonin) that you can buy in most pharmacies and herbal stores. It works very well.
drugs can cause dependence and serious side effects. Are there any effective natural remedies? Thank you in advance.
a poster above mentioned some product that can be dissolved in a hot tub. Well, a hot tub alone can help you fall asleep!

Glad to see that you are looking for natural remedies instead of falling for the big pharma hype on their latest money maker. You must be careful however with the natural stuff too, because many may help knock you out, but do not cure the actual problem (i.e., why can't you sleep).
The real question is not so much HOW to get to sleep, but WHY you don't you sleep. Address the WHY and you will solve the HOW. Too many drugs AND natural solutions only address the HOW.
Are you stressed out? Living a lie? Not following your dream? In a bad relationship? Financially distraught? Completely bored? If so, then do as they say on SNL: "FIX IT!"
Sometimes I can't sleep when I'm stressed about something. I used to try to force myself to sleep, but that didn't work. Now I just get up and clean or write a letter or do something else that is on my to do list for the next day, so that a weight is lifted off of tomorrow's shoulders. That usually does it.
If your problem is not stress-related, then I like solutions like this ebook called "Natural Sleep Secrets" which addresses the WHY, not just the HOW. http://www.naturalsleepsecrets.reclaimin … . It lists many drug-free alternatives depending upon the cause of your sleeplessness and specifically what doesn't work.
The "End Tiredness Program" also peaked my curiosity because if you can better the quality of your sleep, you can do with less sleep, and maybe have less problem with insomnia: http://stop-being-tired.bestlife123.com.
If you still really want to address just the HOW, there are a couple natural remedies that use enhanced or otherwise specially designed sounds like Sleep Tracks (http://www.sleeptracks.naturesmachine.co … The website doesn't give you that much info up front, but there are other alternatives if you look around.
Good luck getting some zzzzzs . . . . and don't worry - this will pass!
Okay so... I've had insomnia for years. It's on and off, isn't ALL the time thank god. But I'll go through weeks or months without sleeping more than a couple hours a night (if I'm lucky), balanced out with maybe a week in between where I manage to get decent amounts of sleep.
I've tried a ton of sleep aid pills already, as recommended by my doctor. Valerian. Melatonin. Nytol. Herbal Nytol. Kalms. None of them worked.
Eventually my doctor prescribed me a stronger sleeping pill called Zopiclone. But, no dice. It didn't stop me from taking forever to get to sleep, it just made me feel more tired and get more frustrated that I still couldn't sleep. And it didn't stop me from waking up eight thousand times during the night, and then being unable to get BACK to sleep again. And on top of that it made me feel like I was hungover in the morning, all groggy and nauseous and dizzy feeling. I tried it for a while but stopped taking it about a year ago because it just wasn't working. My doctor said there was no point in prescribing different sleeping pills, as it didn't seem they were helping any way and it would be stupid just to put a ton of chemicals in my body without even getting a result.
This was about a year ago, but my problems are persisting. I've taken to sleeping with earplugs because I am a light sleeper, and this helps me marginally in that, I don't wake up at every little sound. I just wake up when my body decides to instead.
But does anybody have some natural remedies that might work? Like, are chamomile tea and lavender baths before bed really supposed to work? I'm really jaded and sceptical now, but it's been like three weeks since I got over 4 hours of sleep in one night, so I need your advice.
Thanks in advance you guys.
Perhaps you can find some useful information in a web search for "how to sleep better naturally".

An Herbal Remedy for Insomnia: A Great Alternative - Info Barrel
An herbal remedy for insomnia can be a great alternative to using drugs for this serious sleep disorder. Most people who experience insomnia experience it on an all too consistent basis. There are medications that can help, but they just treat the symptoms; often, they come with the risk of side effects as well. Among the most commonly prescribed drugs for insomnia are those that are actually from the anti-depressant class. These are very strong drugs and you cannot stop taking them suddenly. Herbs, therefore, may be a safer alternative.
Not being able to sleep can truly take over your life. Your immune system becomes compromised and your mood starts spiraling downward. It can seem impossible...
