For the cough and chest you can try any of these. Which ever best suits you ok.

1. Put half a teaspoon of licorice root tea in a cup of hot water, wait 10 minutes, strain and drink. Repeat 3 times daily.

2. Start now by taking vitamin C and Zinc tablets. Both support your immune system to fight off cold and infections. One of each a day.

3. Rub Vicks onto your chest and back at night to ease your cough and relax your breathing. You can also inhale vicks by putting two table spoons of vicks into a bowl of near boiling water. Stir the water till the vicks has disolved and then place a cloth or towel over your head and breathe in the vapours for 10 to 15 mintues.

4. Buy some herbal tea's of either Honey, Eucaluptus, or Peppermint.

5. Hot ginger tea is a popular home remedy for cold symptoms and sore throat. Honey and lemon can be also added.

6. You can also use Eucalyptus oil in the same way as vicks for inhaling.

7. A few drops of Eucalyptus oil in your bath and soak for 15mins breathing everything in helps.

Natural remedies for congestion and sinuses?

Medications like Advil and Tylenol help some, but I was wondering about some natural "homemade" remedies. Last night, I couldn't breath out of my nose. I kept having to beath out of my mouth, and then 20 minuets later it would get dry, and I would have to wake up and take a sip of water. I am EXTREMELY congested. Thank you for any suggestions.

you can try this method to decongest the stuffy nose:
exhale normally, pinch your nose and hold your breath for 30 to 40 seconds or longer if you can. Wait 2 or 3 minutes and repeat the procedure 2 or 3 more times in the same manner. This is Buteyko method and it always works like a charm for me when I have a cold or the flu. When the nose is unblocked, I wash the nasal cavity immediately with saline to remove all the mucus (you can try sinucleanse).

Does anyone know any natural remedies for nasal congestion?

I've had a stuffy nose for the past few days and don't want to take any drugs to cure it. Any suggestions?

1.) Smelling and eating Altoids can clear out your sinuses.
2.) Fill your sink with hot water. (Until steam is coming out) Lean over the sink with a towel covering your head. The steam can naturally unglog your sinuses.
3.) Sudacare makes these tablets called "Shower Soothers." It's a tablet that you put in the shower. The tablet dissolves, and, mixed with the steam, produces an aromatherapy effect that can clear your sinuses.

What type of natural remedies can be used to break up congestion in the upper chest?

Have gotten over my cold but the constant rattling when I breathe just drives me nuts as I can't seem to get it to break loose. I don't smoke and am good health other wise. I don't know if my sinuses are draining at night and causing this but the feeling of something being in my throat causes me to clear it constantly. Any suggestions ?

so any of these herbs act as expectorants or break up mucous: fenugreek, aniseed, horseradish (great for drying up sinuses), olive leaf (if strong infection has set in), echinaea (to boost immunity) and white horehound. Oh and garlic is always a good one. If you can find some or all of them in a liquid form that would be best otherwise capsule will do.
otherwise if all else fails, some drops of eucalyptus and tea trr oil in hot water and breathe in the vapours :)
Gargling with salt water will help sore throat if that becomes an issue. good luck!
