My girlfriend has really bad allergies that keep her up all night. Instead of buying over-the-counter drugs like Claritin, are there other natural remedies I can use that really help? Thanks.

There is way too much info out there for natural remedies. There is no naturopath in my area, so tips and hints that have worked for you on your kids would be helpful.

My 9 year old has asthma, which is brought on by allergies and heavy exercise - she is a sport nut. Her allergies are pretty bad too, but since she spends so much time outside for sports I hate to "dope her up" every day with allergy medicine. No allergy medicine = worse asthma, so then she is sucking back her puffer.

You may think this sounds crazy, but many allergy and asthma sufferers actually have food allergies and/or sensitivities. My labrador has horrible allergies. She's been to the vet several times and has been treated with everything from steriod and cortizone shots to antibiotics to shampoos and anti-itch creams and more. While the symptoms will go away after each treatment, they always come back and I hate to see her suffering from constant itching (not to mention all the treatments are getting ridiculously expensive and they don't solve the problem long-term anyway).
