Spastic Colon

HELP!!!!!!! I HAVE BEEN DIAGONOSED WITH SPASTIC COLON SINCE 2003. I HAVE THESE ATTACKS THAT INCLUDE SEVERE STOMACH CRAMPS THAT I SOMETIMES PASS OUT FROM, DIARRHEA (5-7 DAYS A WEEK), SHORTNESS OF BREATH, RAPID HEARTBEAT, PROFUSE SWEATING WHERE I AM DRENCHED HEAD TO TOE, FEELING HOT, DIZZY, THEN CHILLED TO THE BONE WHERE BY BODY TEMP DROPS TO ABOUT 94 OR 92, MY STOMACH TO THE TOUCH TURNS ICE COLD. DOES THIS SOUND LIKE SPASTIC COLON TO ANYONE? DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THESE SYMPTOMS? I HAD MY GALLBLADDER REMOVED IN 03 WHEN THIS ALL STARTED, AS I WAS TOLD THAT WAS WHAT WAS CAUSING MY SYMPTOMS AT THE TIME. WRONG!!! EVERYTHING HAS GOTTEN WORST. I'VE HAD 5 COLONOSCOPIES SINCE 03, NO CANCER BUT A POLOP. 2 ENDOSCOPIES THE LAST ONE SHOWED DIALATED BLOOD VESSELS. MY STOMACH IS SO SENSITIVE I CAN NOT TAKE PAIN KILLERS OR 98% OF MEDS BECAUSE MY STOMACH WILL BLEED AND HURT AS IF IT'S BEING RIPPED APART. I SUFFER EVERYDAY IN PAIN. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS? I AM AT THE END OF MY ROPE...:-(
I have tried over 30 different prescription's with no help or relief. The last was belladonna which i could not function with.

there are meds for your spastic colon to help with the symptoms, get a prescription from your doctor

I have two major problems with the tummy: wheat allergy and a spastic colon. If anyone out there has these two conditions together to deal with (by the way, my doctor says I'm the only one in her practice who has the two conditions to deal with) -- I'd be interested in how you keep things under control and give your diet some variety. I'm really limited at this point and losing weight. I do take lots of a pro-biotic and acidophylis which is a big help.

Hi. I have a question for you, how long have you been diagnosed with eitehr condition? If u are a newly diagnosed Celiac, u may find secondary problems tend to get better as your body heals on the Gluten Free diet.

That beign said, I do not have spastic colon, just CD.

I would say, continue the GF diet, be very strict, perhaps maybe limiting dairy or other triggers right now.
Try the cookbook, Cooking WIthouth by Carol Fenster. It focuses on multiple allergies/intolerances. (remember CD is NOT an allergy but an autoimmune disease.)

i recently had a berium enima which resulted in an abnormal reading. i was told i needed to have a colonoscopy in order to find what was going on in there. i then had a colonoscopy and was told that i had no polyps etc...i just had colon spasms. what is colon spasms and why do i have them?
for the past 5 to 6 months i have had jell like stuff in my stool (real bad) and mild to severe cramping in my lower stomach.

usually a very nervous or anxious person gets a spastic colon.
and it all starts in a nervous stomach... maybe you don't realize your nervousness. worth investigating. what has been going on in your life the last 5 or 6 months? i also have a spastic colon... i have been a nervous wreck since my childhood. look on the net for ways to relax your body... relaxation breathing. i hope you feel better soon. i hope this helped. :)

Reason for asking is my parents think I have a mild case of IBS. I will go spans of 3 days before I have a movement> When that day comes its an awful day. I am weak and tired, in the bathroom non stop, and I feel awful. No appetite at all during that day. The following day all is fine. I have not been able to pin point what causes my IBS to act up either. For example I went out to eat today and it didn't sit well. But wheN I eat at this place in past, no problems. That is always a fear of mine when I go out to eat, "Will my IBS act up?" It makes it hard to enjoy eating out. Is this common for IBS sufferers? IF that is what I have

If you think you might have this then see the doc. Otherwise consider increasing your fiber intake and using a fiber supplement daily or twice daily to help get your bowels under control.
