Are the large intestine and the colon the same thing? If not, what it the differnce?
I'm a nurse, and it is the same thing, but isn't. The large colon is in sections. The ascending colon, transverse colon, descending colon, and Sigmoid colon. At the end of it is the rectum where the fecal matter is stored before it leaves the body. Here's a picture if you want to see better

Why do we refer to the colon, rectum and anus collectively as the “large intestine” when it is only 1.5 meters long but we call the duodenum, jejunum and ileum collectively as the “small intestine” when it is 6 meters long?
The small intestine is skinny and the large intestine is thicker. It has nothing to do with length.
I need to know for a science test tuesday.

Ok i think we need more clarification on your situation to help you. First off no one can be refused emergent medical care in the US thanks to the EMTALA (Emergency Medical Treatment Active Labor Act). So obviously your situation isn't very emergent or an ER doc would have done something already to fix your situation.
