Hey guys. So this is really embarrassing, and I really don't want to go to the doctor. But my Anus has been slightly itchy, mainly at night, for the last couple of months. Lately things have gotten worse, I've noticed a liquid coming out that I sometimes have to wipe off and the itching has gotten worse so that I now am annoyed with it during the day and especially in the evening, its gotten to be a painful itchiness. And no, I'm not scratching, I know the skin there is super sensitive. I've tried using Hydrocortisone, but that doesn't help. Also, starting this Monday, I've had pain while bearing down (in my colon, not the outside), and when coughing. If I have worms, what kind are they? If its a fungus, what is it? I'm looking for specifics (I'm a pre-nursing student) and I would really appreciate your help.

Try to pay attention to the things you eat and drink. Sometimes it is as easy as to change your diet. Try it for 4 -5 days, see what happens.
If nothing changes, go to the doctor.

If I stay in the sun too long, my skin gets itchy for about 2 or 3 days. I wonder if its because I took prednisone and mercaptopurine 6mp in the past 3-4 years to help rid of inflammation and lining damage on my large colon, that caused internal bleeding back then, right now its healed. Any real explanations to this? Thank you all.

What can I do to make itchy go away? I've tried aloe vera gel and benadryl, it doesn't work, it drives me more crazy and itchy.

You need to check the label or with your doctor to see if this medication can cause sensitivity to the sun. Many medications have warnings on them to limit exposure to the sun because of this fact.

Have you tried Calamine lotion or cold compresses? Sometimes that may help with itchiness.

Apparently, when I go to sleep, or come out of the shower, or at other times even, my ankles itch. What are causes of this horrible affliction, and what might the home remedies -- nonprescription/Rx -- be?

I do have UC (ulcerative colitis-- or inflamed colon) and thus, the complications of an inflammation is likely.

I have that same thing and it just drives me crazy.I know a lot of others who have itchy ankles and all of us have diabetes tp 2,it is a nerve problem in the ankles,inflamation of those nerves..Have you been tested for or do you have diabetes?If you are not diabetic then I would get tested right away.I take antihistamines for the itching but most times nothing helps.It keeps me from going to sleep and sometimes wakes me up itching real bad.I really feel for you having ulcerative colitis my son has it and he is so sick with it all the time.

I put in a specimen the other day at the doctors and half of the results said I did not have gastro as that has been going around a lot and It said I did not have any virus or bug, now that rules that out. The culture which is due to come back next monday will tell me if there is any abnormalitys it in. If so I will get a colonoscopy. My blood tests recoment I have a repeat Iron test in the not too distant future. I eat well so I do not understand this. My hemogloban is normal which is good. I am passing out mucus most of the time and feel like my bowel habbit has changed 100% from what it was. I am itchy most of the time in my bowel it is horrible. Any advise for me. I feel like I have the flu sometimes which I do not. My body feels really yuck. If anyone out there has or have had the desease did you get itchy up your colon too? This is really bad I tell ya, I do not know how long I can go on like this. I will buy ointment that was prescribed to me tonight tomorow
to see if that helps, which I hope it does. so if anyone out there has cancer of the colon or have had it or know anyone who has had or got it did they get itchy too up the bum?
sonrrie, I may already have cancer of the anus not the bowel as I first throught. I have a suspicious lump that the specialist will look at within 2 weeks and biospsy it. I have all the symptoms of cancer of the anus. I have the HPV virus inside of me as I had an abnormal pap smear in 2000 and the abnormal pre cancerous cells were removed but I still have the virus inside of my body. Now I found out the other day if you have this you are more at risk of developing this desease. so I do not think prevention is in my books now. But thanks anyway

You may want to consider that what you're eating could be causing these symptoms. Please have a read about celiac disease/gluten intolerance at www.glutenfreeforum.com. There is a wealth of information there that could change (and possibly save) your life.
