My mom had colon cancer and I was just wondering if there was a certain age that it is recommended I should get checked out.
Thanks!
You have not mentioned your age, even then you should have contact your doctor periodically at least once in 2 years and have the tests done to ensure you do not have the disease.
The U.S. Multisociety Task Force on Colorectal Cancer recommends the following screening options:
* Annual fecal occult blood testing
* Flexible sigmoidoscopy every five years
* Annual fecal occult blood testing plus flexible sigmoidoscopy every five years
* Double contrast barium enema every five years
* Colonoscopy every 10 years
More frequent or earlier screening may be recommended if you're thought to have a high risk of colon cancer. Explore the benefits and risks of each screening option with your doctor. Together you can determine which colon cancer screening option is best for you. One factor to consider is whether your health insurance provider covers colon cancer screening.-
GS Raju, MD defines "family history" in terms of developing Colon Cancer.
I need to know a website that has this information. Additional information about colon cancer, if you had any, would be greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance.
The National Cancer Institute provides information about Colon Cancer for both patients and healthcare professionals. Includes definition, risks, stages, treatment options, prognostic factors, and resources:

in his stool? what do you do in a situation like this? if i told my doctor, what kind of tests would they do on someone my age to figure out what is wrong? could it be serious?
It could be nothing serious. Maybe you were just straining to go to the bathroom. 34years old is somewhat young to be tested for colon cancer. If this is the only time it has happened then just try a stool softener and don't strain to go to the bathroom. I'm not a doctor (my husband is though and I work in the medical profession) but it's just always best to run it by your doctor and get his opinion. Don't get worked up over nothing...I'm sure it's fine. If it keep happening I'd see the doctor, maybe you just have a small hemmoroid which is not a big deal either.

im a 15 year old healthy male and ive noticed a pain that comes and goes in the middle left side of my abdomen accompanied by a lump about the size of a golf ball, this has been going on for about 2 and a half months and im just looking for some answers, this is really causing me a lot of grief and anxiety and your answers would really help. thank you.
See a doctor as soon as possible. The only warning sign that a young person has that they might have cancer is an unexplained lump or bump located ANYWHERE inside or outside the body. Do not delay, have this checked immediately.
My son also had unexplained 'lumps' inside the abdomen. It was not colon cancer . . it was a rare abdominal cancer called a sarcoma that grows within the walls of the abdominal cavity and strikes boys and young adults.
I am not saying that what you feel is cancer . . but anything that size is suspicious. Tell your parents now and have it checked out.
Good luck.
I need to know the history. Not family history, but the history. So like how it became discovered and who discovered it. Thanks in advance!

Sexuality and cancer surgeries: what's mine is yours, apparently ...
This is particularly true, it seems, when the topic is nipples. Virtually none of the literature or education around the topic of breast cancer covers the sudden disappearance of erotic sensation in the breast. There is no attempt, as there is in a prostatectomy, to preserve the nerves. Modern mastectomy simply hacks off the offending tissue and creates a blank area where there once was tingling current.
There are also body-image issues after breast cancer surgery and reconstruction, for patients and their partners. But, one young woman who tested positive for BRCA1 and chose to have a preventive double mastectomy makes it sound like her partner’s discomfort and even disgust...
