I am 44 female, had a cat scan on abdomen earlier this year for something else, doc said he noticed a spot on the colon, didn't know if it was related to the sickness i had at the time. am afraid to go back and find out. are there any early signs or symptoms? plus i don't have insurance right now.
unfortunately, the early signs can only be caught by a doctor, it's called a hemocult test, and it's done on a stool specimen, by the time symptoms show that a person can spot... it's too late.

How and what should I do to prevent both of these illnesses.
The most common early sign of prostate cancer is suddenly needing to urinate more frequently than normal (this can also be a symptom of urinary tract and other infections) particularly, stopping urination but feeling that you haven't emptied your bladder.
The commonest early sign of bowel/colon cancer is an alternation between diarrhea and constipation, other common early symptoms include abdominal pain, blood in stools and sudden weight loss.
Neither disease can be completely prevented but it's thought that an active sex/ejaculation life may reduce concentrations of carcinogens in the prostate gland.
Chances of developing bowel/colon cancer are shown to be reduced by including plenty of fibre (bran, wholegrain bread etc), fruit and vegetables in the diet, the recommended daily intake is 5 portions of fruit or vegetables a day.

Perhaps I should clarify....I am wondering what is considered early detection. Is onset of symptoms past early detection? Thus, what seems like a much lower cure rate...
Early detection is when you have a colonoscopy and they find a nodule, then remove it.
Having symptoms is past earliest detection but if having any symptoms you should see your Dr. immediately. Many other things besides cancer have similar symptoms.
they sent him home today with no plan for chemo, they took out his port because it was infected, he is bloated in the abdoman and legs/ankles. is this the early signs of the end for him????

A detox of the body would do wonders for him (anybody for that matter). It's never too late in the game, unless his time (kharma) is over. Doing a colon and liver cleanse while doing a juicefast for 30 days can change everthing. I have seen it done!
