My friend is 22 and is dying from Colon Cancer and Lymphoma, Should I celebrate Christmas early for him?

Last October my friend Richard was told that he had 9 months left to live due to having Colon Cancer and Lymphoma. He didn't tell me until 27th March this year. It is likely that he will die in July/August. He had a terrible childhood with abuse and last Christmas which he spent with me was, according to him, his best ever yet. I had given him his happiness back. He is due to go to Tunisia on 6th May ( I will be there too) the country he wants to die in :o(

I want to know if I should celebrate Christmas early just for him so that he can have a happy time before leaving for Tunisia.

What a great friend he has in you. Go for it, i bet he will love the idea.
Best wishes.

What is going to happen as my Grandma dies from colon cancer?

A few years ago my Grandma was diagnosed with colon cancer and recently she was giving 2-3 months left to live. I would really like to know what is going to happen so I can be a prepaired as possible. I know that every person is different but even a general idea would help. Thankyou!
PLEASE no stupid, hurtful, making fun of the situation comments
Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I meant to ask what is going to happen with Grandma. For instance will she lose her appetite or will her skin start to yellow-ish like it did during chemo?

In my case (my Mom died of colon cancer) my Mom's cancer spread from the colon to the liver. Once the cancer is in the system and invading other organs the patient starts to decline, lose their appetite, lose interest in daily events and they start to be within themselves. They may not want to talk much, but they can hear everything. The hospice told me that this was their way to prepare for the next journey.

If your Grandma is in pain they will give her Morphine (usually) and that will make her very sleepy and "out of it".

It's a hard thing to watch and I am sorry that you will have to go through this. Usually after they have been given a time frame, they go sooner than later.

Say everything you need to say to her now, don't let her leave without saying that you loved her.

Wish you well.

Health Care Providers Become Study Subjects

The research results come out of a long-running study called the Nurses' Health Study . Begun in 1976, the Nurses' Health Study has collected information on a variety of health-related factors, such as diet and exercise habits, medications, and alcohol and tobacco use from approximately 238,000 female nurses. The health of each person in this group has been tracked over time to learn more about the potential causes of conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and cancer.
