Colonic treatment is NOT Dr. recommended. It is a scam, and its usefullness is a myth. A basic understanding of the human digestive system is lacking in those who throw their money away by going to the charlatans who perform high priced enemas.

Okay i seen the commercial with the dark skinned guy...i am not sure which one he was pushing but i am curious...I think he was stating people over 20 should try this...hmmm Which is the best brand? I read online about this Bowtrol...I mean do doctors really recommend cleansing the colon? And for how long do you use this before you stop? I mean you have to stop sometime right, what when gross things stop coming out? I read about parasites in your body..do they come out in the toilet too? Can you see them? hehe i know gross... hmmmm i am just getting ideas here..thanks in advance...

I have read about colon treatments on the web which involve fasting for quite a while (or just drinking liquids) but is the stuff you get from the health shops different and do they work? I also know that some doctors say it is unnatural to do this but surely once wont hurt? It's to help my bloated tummy.
Most "colon cleanses" from shops (even health food stores) are just laxatives. If you suffer from IBS or bloating, it isn't going to help. If your bloating is a one-time thing, try calming your system with lots of water and a vegetarian diet w/out grains and with copious amounts of live culture yogurt for a few days (but don't eat your veggies raw, that can exacerbate bloating). Mix some flaxseed in w/the yogurt if you don't like the plain taste. And yes, a proper colon cleanse (usually involving 2 colonics) should only be done during a juice fast or a modified fast.
because i overdosed on vitamin c, which would be better to get the rest out and help my liver?
a colon cleanse or blood cleanse, my doctor recommended the colon cleanse, but the blood might be better.
Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin. Physician's Desk Reference for Nutritional Supplements state " There are NO reports of vitamin C overdosage in the literature."
You do not state your medical history. There are problems if you have preexisting renal problems or have a tendency to develop crystals ( stones). If the vitamin C comes from rose hips and you are allergic to rose hips-- you can have a bad reaction. Bad reactions can occur with the following medical disorders: hemochromatosis, thalassemia, sideroblastic anemia, sickle cell anemia, and erythrocyte G6PD deficiency.
Common side effects with doses greater than 3 grams ( 3,000 mg ) are nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and flatulent distention.
Rare adverse reactions ( greater than 4 grams) are increase in serum glucose ( sugar), gastrointestinal obstruction, and esophagitis.
Since your doctor recommended a colon cleanse, I find this odd because high doses of vitamin c causes diarrhea.
Please buy a good book on supplements instead of relying on information from your doctor. There is so much information from the book I mentioned.
If you do not have any of the above conditions, you are fine.
Vitamin C is water soluble so any excess is excreted in the urine.
I have been researching like crazy on-line and it seems that every one I look at comes "Highly Recommended".
I have no idea which one to go with.
Are there any doctors here?
HELP
Bowtrol maybe?
Nice fun fact. I never heard of that. Sounds pretty sickening. I do not think that I will try that.

What is Brewer’s Yeast And How Does It Benefit the Digestive System? If you are at all familiar with Probiotics you will have no difficulty understanding what Brewer’s Yeast is and how it benefits the digestive system. Actually, Brewer’s Yeast is a Probiotic in that it promotes the growth of and replenishes good, or friendly, bacteria in the digestive tract. Brewer’s Yeast contains the fermentative bacteria called Acidophilus which ferments particular carbohydrates and in turn secretes acid in the process. This helps to maintain an adequate acid balance in the colon.
