I have heard that one should drink water all day which is boiled and nothing to eat except drinking water all day - does one have to add salt or sugar to it? Colon cleansing is silly, useless nonsense. Your colon cleans itself and does not need any help. No colon "cleanser" or tubes in the rectum are necessary. Do not listen to sites that are only trying to convince you that you need it in order to sell you something.

Are you referring to the long, flexible tube that is used in an enema procedure and inserted far into the colon (as opposed to a regular enema speculum which is just inserted a bit into the rectum)? Enemas are typically done by entering a small tube into the anal canal. The small tube delivers the enema contents into the anal canal and just into the rectum.
Using a colon tube provides the enema contents further up. The colon tube passes the anal canal, the rectum, the sigmoid colon and ends in the descending colon. The colon tube then delivers the enema contents into the descending colon allowing the enema contents to flow more easily into the transverse colon and down into the ascending colon.
Your colon is an upside U shape, and in order to cleanse more effectively, a longer colon tube is necessary.
