I've been reading about colon cleansing kits online, and I came across an article that tells me you can follow the instructions for a colonoscopy prep and get the same results. Is this true?
Yes, you can basically follow the same prep. My husband had to get a colonoscopy and he prepped the same way that I do for my colon cleansing pills.

I need some help. I am a teen and i have a colonoscopy and endoscopy tomorrow. I am doing the prep so i need fast answers. I am drinking 527 grams of miralax and 2 big bottles of gatorade. I have to get that down in 2 hours. I gag on it in a way. It makes me wicked nauseous. I don't know whether i can get it all down in 2 hours with out puking and if i puke they will...well...might cancel my operation. What do i do to stop the nausea and will it be bad if i finish it in 2 1/2 hours? People that have medical knowledge of this...answer please.....please no sarcasm...i don't have time. I don't feel good and i need to know. Thank you very much. God bless.

wow thats quite a large quanity! i am 15 and have had an endoscopy/colonoscopy done in feb. and will have another along with a capsule endoscopy in a little over a week. i just had to drink 2 10oz bottles of magnessium citrate which tastes hecka nasty! next time i would ask your doctor for some anti nausea medicine ahead of time. i take zofran because i suffer from severe nausea. hope everything went well! hope this helps! =)
Ok, I know this is kinds gross but I need help. I have a colonoscopy tomorrow at 1:30pm. They gave me 2 liters of MoviPrep. I got through almost one liter, but I think I threw half of it up. I still have another liter to go and at this point I just cant seem to get (let alone Keep) any more down. Any suggestions? And how little do you think I can get away with? I am 5'4" and weight 110 pounds.
You need to drink both liters. It's imperative for a successful colonoscopy. Now keep in mind, they give you more than you need in the event that it makes you sick. I suggest taking it in small amounts and drinking water in between Good Luck.
Researchers Evaluate New Bowel-Prep Approaches
PHOENIX—While there is little doubt concerning the effectiveness of colonoscopy procedures to detect colon cancer, a new study presented at the American College of Gastroenterology’s 74th Annual Scientific Meeting in San Diego places new emphasis on the importance of adequate bowel preparation prior to procedure. The findings come at a time when clinicians are evaluating new bowel preparation solutions to replace the popular over the counter phosphosoda formulations recently withdrawn from the market.
In a retrospective study performed at the VA Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ, Dr. Nooman Gilani, Dr. Veronika Karasek and their team evaluated the impact of inadequate bowel preparation on the follow-up interval recommended by the endoscopist. After studying records on some 788 patients, the researchers concluded that inadequate bowel preparation by the patient before the procedure resulted in a recommended follow-up colonoscopy 17.1 months earlier than average. By comparison, finding an adenoma during the procedure resulted in a recommended follow-up examination 17.2 months earlier than average.
