Is it an urban myth that John Wayne has 40lbs of plaque in his colon when he died the autopsy suggest?

I would like to know is this is true or false?

Just from reading I can tell you it's Bolshevik.

Can anyone recommend a good (and cheap) 24 hour detox that rids you of colon plaque?

If you've seen the Spa of Embarrassing illnesses and Weight Loss for Life on TV then you'll know what i'm talking about. I've found a few sites selling the 24 hour detox, 48 hour detox and 7 day detox plans that cost a small fortune, but i just want to get rid of the plaque.

Any Gastroenterology majors out there? Is colon cleansing a good or bad idea?

I keep hearing that the colon stores 'plaque' and old fecal matter, toxins etc. on the intestinal walls that can stay there for years. Is it true? Is it a good idea to do a colon cleanse, water or juice fast or enema to clean it out? Please be descriptive and don't just say yes or no. Thanks for your help!
I've never been so grateful for an answer before. Thank you SO much to all the Doctors that contributed and saved me from an unpleasant and costly experience! I can't choose a best answer because all three of you gave comprehensive answers. I guess I'll just put it to a vote and give you all thumbs up! Thanks again!

It is really not a pleasant thing at first, but highly addictive!!! You’ll feel really great, especially after the 3rd one (it goes in series, most of the time) It feels like you can fly and you can loose anything from 2 kg straight (imagine how much we have $%^^& inside) !!! if you have a good specialist you wont experience any discomfort but do make sure you follow the instruction for the preparation for your fist session, its really important. It might sound strange but even breathing will be so easy, its amazing what it can do for your body.

And, yes all that #$%#$%^ accumulates over the years in your colon blocking it and making your physiological functioning difficult, slowly poisoning you. The best option is to do it regularly every 3 to 6 months, for “cleaner” results..

If you wish to do it yourself, start by adding a little of lemon juice to about 2 Lts of lukewarm-hot water, be careful, it may cause you to feel nauseous and painful but its all part of initiation. Do not expect all the 2Lt to work into your system on the first time, but be persistent… best idea, rather seek a specialist and follow the doctor’s instruction, this will give you better results and less discomfort.

Colon Cleanses and Mucoid Plaque?

I have been doing a lot of research on the so called "Mucoid Plaque" to find out how valid the claim is. All the answers all seem so black and white. We've got Doctors on both sides of the spectrum. Some argue that there is mucoid plaque and that it is very dangerous to have inside of us while others totally dismiss any possibility of it. It seems like either way, someone is trying to make money off of us. I really want to know what people think and if there are any Doctors (Naturopath or Modern) out there that have any advice, input, etc. I am thinking about doing a colon cleanse but keep reading about how dangerous these cleanses can be. I have also heard from people who have the mucoid plaque without being on a cleanse or fiber, etc. How does one explain that? I am neutral right now, I just want more opinions before I decide to do a cleanse or not. Logic tells me that mucoid plaque would exist in the "western diet", but I really have no idea. Either way, is it best to take my chances by not having a cleanse or to be safe than sorry and go with a cleanse?
(FYI, I eat really healthy and exercise regularly and find myself plugged up and bloated all the time. I have tried everything short of a cleanse)

You can find all the ingredents from a Colon Cleanse product in a regular store. These are: ground flax seed, psyllium husk and (sometimes they include bentonite clay, walnut husk and pumkin seed, and other herbs but these aren't essential). So if you decide to do a cleanse, don't pay $100 for it. Those are pure rip-offs and it's got about $10 worth of ingredients.

It's pretty clear to me that all of the supposed "mucoid plaque" that comes out is just the stuff you are putting in with a cleanse, plus water.

I also understand, from medical doctors, that most colons look pink and clean. This whole idea of plaque build up is not completely right.

That said, adding soluble fiber to your diet (which is basically what those cleanse programs do) has a lot of benefit. Both conventional doctors and alternative medicine types can agree that it will reduce your cravings for junk food, boost your immunity, lower your blood pressure and improve your cholesterol levels, reduce your hemmorhoids, constipation, or IBS, and decrease your risk of certain types of cancers.

So why not.

Just don't get ripped off.

What is a safe yet effective intestine/colon cleanse detox that I can do at home?

I have been having some skin problems over the last year, after I quit smoking and drinking. I have read that I most likely have plaque and toxins built up in intestine/colon. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like a bunch of new age nonsense. Go see a dermatologist and ask him/her for their opinion. Your colon is not supposed to be devoid of toxins btw. If you cleanse all the bacteria and what not, you will find it difficult to break down any number of foods and are asking for trouble.

Death Begins in the Colon and other Urban Legends

By Shawn Kirby

In case you hadn’t noticed, “cleansing” is one of the biggest fads in alternative health care right now. My spam filter at work collects literally hundreds of emails a day advertising various products and procedures. (This trend has gotten so out of hand that a woman recently found that someone had hijacked her dead mother’s facebook account as a vehicle to advertise a colon cleanse.) Walk into any health food store and you’ll typically find an entire aisle of products ranging from concentrated extracts of Cascara Sagrada, to gallon jugs of Aloe Vera, to 5 pound tubs of psyllium husk mixed with Senna lining the shelves. The mind boggles in the face of this veritable arsenal of nuclear bombs designed to “cleanse” the body and “restore health and wellbeing.” Advertisements for high colonics pepper the bulletin boards as you leave the store, and while most of them still seem to be done out of the back of some guy’s garage, many trendy spas and even acupuncture clinics now offer this service. Supply seems to be meeting demand, and people are trying “cleansing” in record numbers. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had a patient come into my office and ask me what I thought about them “doing a cleanse.” The question becomes, is all this “cleansing” beneficial, necessary, or even safe?
