I am supose to get a sgimoidoscopy and need to schedule it but in the meantime the left side is killing me. This has gone on for a few months now but tonight it is really bad. It is hard to the touch and you can see it is distended compare to the other side. Without being to graphic I will just say there is major changes in bowel also.
Any ideas what would cause this? why it is rigid? and there is pain?
sounds like what i have and actually am having a flare up now, diverticulosis, which can go to diverticulitis, i go from loose to not so bm's and im hoping what ever is flaring up goes down with the antibiotics doc gave me, but you need to see a gastroinerologist as soon as possible, if it gets as ecscruciating to where your diaphram wont let you breath, then its 911 time, good luck and god bless

I was taking colon cleanse pills for about 5 days. I have has a severe sharp pain in my left side. I have had several BMs but this pain will not go away. I am taking gas x, because I also seem to have a lot of gas.
Having a lot of gas can cause pains in your side. Try to eat some bulky foods and hopefully it will pass soon and drink plenty of water.
i get this weird left sided, lower colon-area stomach pain from time to time. I've been told i have IBS and take meds for that, but this is like a dull ache and it feels better when im curled up in a ball and worse when i lay down or lay on my left side. any ideas or help? and the appendix has already come out :-)
could it possibly be diverticulitis? That can occur all over the intestines. most of the stuff I know about happens on the right side. I hate meds for anything, I have a tendency to plug up easy.
I am having pain near my descending colon (lower left side of my stomach. Every time I stand up is just throbs!! It still hurts when i sit down, but not as bad what is this???? Please help A.S.A.P
it could be appendicitis or a kidney issue, or it could just be gas, bt you need to talk to your doctor to be sure, and i would do it pretty fast, because if it is your appendix, it could rupture and and put you in sepsis, which could likely lead to death if not treated quickly.
my colon hurts, seriously. left side, lower quad. dull pain that will not go away. now what?
Probably not the answer your looking for but I would go to the doctor. If it's some sort of blockage or something that can be very dangerous. Also it may not necessarily be your colon it could be something else. I would get it checked out.

I would like to know if there has been more investigation done regarding gastroparesis or ways to cope with it besides the use of medications and strict diets. I began my horrible experience with gastroparesis last October. It lasted until March with constant medication and diet maintenance. It disappeared until the beginning of October this year and it progressively getting worse.
