Signet Ring Carcinoma in Colon Cancer?

Where can I get information on Signet Ring Carcinoma in Colon Cancer. I understand that this is not a common cancer. I am interested in survival rates, return of the cancer following surgery when no lymph nodes were involved.

what does "no evidence of invasive carcinoma mean" on a biopsy of a colon tumor?

I still need surgery to remove a part of my colon so I am very nervous they may find cancer.
They are removing part of my colon so the tumor doesn't turn into cancer. Since they only removed two biopsied areas during the colonoscopy procedure I was concerned they may have missed something.

You definitely have colon cancer - otherwise you will not be scheduled for a surgery
Colon cancer has several stages of progress
I its only inside the inner lining of your colon
II it invaded to the outer lining of the colon
III it invaded outside and spread to local lymphatic nodes
IV it invaded and metastasized in other organs.
Your biopsy indicates that it is probably a stage I disease, however, after the surgery they will check again the removed part of your colon and its lymphatic nodes.
If your cancer is indeed only in stage I, then you are quite lucky, chemotherapy will not be needed, and your chances to be cured are above 90%.
For instance, stage III people need chemotherapy, and have only about 60% to be cured.

renal cell carcinoma what should I expect?

I have been diagnosed recently with renal cell cancer to my right kidney; I will be having surgery to remove my right kidney asap; the doctors don't know if the tumor has connected to the liver, lower bowel, or even the colon until they get inside; also there is a thrombus that is going up the vena cava; at this time there is no mets to the lungs or brain; I am only 39 and recently like 2 weeks ago found out about the tumor 9.5cm by 10cm

Fortunatelly, there is a lot of new research and new agents available to treat RCC. Ask your doctor about:

*Sutent (or other tyrosine kinase inhibitors --TKI's for short)
*Avastin (to stop the blood vessels that feed the tumor)--may not be appropriate because of the thrombus though

Please consisder getting a second opinion on treatment at a cancer "Center of Excellence" or at a university if you haven't already. They may also be able to enroll you in clinical trials where you can get cutting-edge treatment (you can also search for RCC yourself at www.clinicaltrials.gov).

I've found that support groups online that discuss your individual cancer can be SO helpful medically and emotionally, too.

Good luck!
