Colon Cancer Society

I have read on the American Cancer Society website in an article dated 2001/04/27 about a trial vaccine that attacked the CEA coating of the cancer cell. I have just been diagnoised with secondary colon cancer in my liver and will have a resection. I am interested in finding information about whether there is a current clinical study going on but cannot gain entrance because I am not in the medical profession. If i can possibly find who/what then perhaps I can get my oncologist to follow up. Can anyone help me crack this info maze.

Go to www.clinicaltrials.gov and type in colorectal cancer and you will get a list of ongoing clinical trials. They may not be enrolling patients with metastasis for a vaccine, but there are plenty of other trials going on.

The good news is that the 2 most common regimens, FOLFOX plus Avastin and FOLFIRI plus Avastin have prolonged overall survival and progression-free survival. Also look into complementary/Chinese medicine. Good luck!

I meet my very best friend at an agency 4 years ago.Back in 2007 I was Date Raped.I couldn't talk too my mom or my old old church friends.My very best best friend got diagnosed with colon cancer. The Colon Cancer was caught in time.My very very best friend cancer Dr. made my very very best friend resign from her job temporarily. I just feel lost right now because I haven't scened her in a long time.So my question is how can I ask my very best friend too join me in the Relay race for the american Cancer society without making my Very best best friend uneasy.

I think it is wonderful that you want to participate in the relay for life. I would just say to her "___________ I want support cancer research and I want you by my side. Please join me in the Relay Race for the American Cancer Society." It would be a great way to show the cancer is not winning over her.

My best friend's dad just died of colon cancer, and the junior class (we're in high school) wants to do something for her/her family. She had a brother who's a senior, and the senior class collected money and is donating the money in his name to the American Cancer Society.

We go to a really small high school of less than 300 students so we're all very close and want to do something really special for them. Please post your ideas! (Thanks so much in advance!)

Get the school to order a nice floral arrangement, and you and your classmates give them food for a nice dinner. Like, get together and decide who could make what...like someone get a ham, someone make some potato salad, someone make a cake, etc. And say it's collectively from the junior class.

Ok, here it goes guys. The sunscreen industry makes money by selling lotion products that actually contain cancer-causing chemicals. It then donates a portion of that money to the cancer industry through non-profit groups like the American Cancer Society which, in turn, run heart-breaking public service ads urging people to use sunscreen to "prevent cancer."

Mr. William T. I beg to differ. Yes sun burn sunscreen existed before it was announced that it prevented cancer, as soon as it was anounced that it would prevent skin cancer, sales took off at the speed of skin cancer. Oooppss..

I know Rex !! I'm with you buddy, but it's a veritable minefield out there mate. They write a hieroglyphic version of the nasty sludge contained therein in minuscule print on the back of the bottle or tube and even if you can pronounce it or better still know what it is many people take on board the usual dribble they spout that it's in such minuscule amounts that no harm will be done ~ how many situations can you apply that statement to hey??!! It's about time people simply started to think for themselves and not follow big industry marketing like a bunch of mindless little lambs trailing off to the slaughter in my opinion.

♥you can actually buy herbal varieties of sunscreen , i simply avoid prolonged exposure and peak sun times during the day and cover up properly with a decent hat (like my hat??!!) and loose protective clothing............ geez, i don't want to get wrinkly and dry before i have to♥

Perphaps everybody needs to just a use a lot more sun sense and cover up, wear a hat and avoid the cruel and harsh rays of the midday sun !! So ridiculous you know, when i was a teenager in high school ............. ooooh, all those years ago ............... i got picked on mercilessly for my olive skin and wild dark curly hair!! These days, people are literally dying to get the same color skin and are racing off to the hairdresser eager to pump toxic sludge into their hair to perm it !! makes utterly no sense to me .............. totally brainless i reckon.

What's with people's obsession for the ultimate tan anyways?? whatever happened to that rosy glow of health and vitality anyways!!

Saddest part is that you really can't tell people, they have to learn for themselves............. all we can is just keep swinging our banners buddy.
