Result of biopsy: Normal colon mucosa with mild infiltration of pigment-laden macrophages, ?

I had colonoscopy.
Clinical data: Melanosis coli
Result of biopsy: Normal colon mucosa with mild infiltration of pigment-laden macrophages, compatible with melanosis coli. What is recommended?

Melanosis coli is dark discolouration of the colon (due to the above-mentioned macrophages). It is quite a common benign condition that is associated with the use of laxatives in those with constipation. Nothing specific really needs to be done about it - it is not associated with any negative consequences.

what does "no evidence of invasive carcinoma mean" on a biopsy of a colon tumor?

I still need surgery to remove a part of my colon so I am very nervous they may find cancer.
They are removing part of my colon so the tumor doesn't turn into cancer. Since they only removed two biopsied areas during the colonoscopy procedure I was concerned they may have missed something.

You definitely have colon cancer - otherwise you will not be scheduled for a surgery
Colon cancer has several stages of progress
I its only inside the inner lining of your colon
II it invaded to the outer lining of the colon
III it invaded outside and spread to local lymphatic nodes
IV it invaded and metastasized in other organs.
Your biopsy indicates that it is probably a stage I disease, however, after the surgery they will check again the removed part of your colon and its lymphatic nodes.
If your cancer is indeed only in stage I, then you are quite lucky, chemotherapy will not be needed, and your chances to be cured are above 90%.
For instance, stage III people need chemotherapy, and have only about 60% to be cured.

endoscopic biopsy of colon:large bowel mucosa with mild chronic nonspecific inflammation, tell me what did you mean
ccoul you please me may this report about colon caused by cancer

Endoscopic biopsy means looking inside your body and taking a sample of the tissue. Inflammation means irritation. Chronic means it's been there for awhile. Nonspecific means it hasn't been caused by a specific disease or disorder that can be named.

Inconclusive biopsy test (Colon)

Hello, I've been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, had some problems, ended up in the hospital and they did another scope and my dr said that the biopsy came back inconclusive? Anyone have any idea of why or how that would happen? Should I ask to have another test? Go for a 2nd opinion??

Also: when admitted to the hospital he was thinking I had a colon infection, then he told me that he was 80 percent sure it was that but wanted to wait on more test to come back. Then next day says that I don't have a colon infection and wanted to see what the biopsy test showed. Then that came back and he said , well I think it's either an infection or your colitis had spread or your just having a severe flare up right now and gave me a diet plan, tons of meds and was told to do a follow up in a month? uhhh??

If the biopsy test was inconclusive there is reason for dissatisfaction They can tell you what the biopsy report shows. It should tell you the nature of the cells seen by microscopy.
It is best to get another opinion

How do I take care of stitches in colon?

I had a colon/rectum biopsy today and I ended up having to get a few stitches and the nurse said to keep them clean and dry. How in the world am I supposed to take care of the stitches when they are inside? I have chronic constipation could that create a problem?
BTW: I had the biopsy to figure out why I'm having the constipation

The inside sutures are nothing for you to worry about. I have no clue what the nurse meant by your keeping them clean and dry being interior not exterior sutures.

Don't worry about them, and your constipation should not create any unusual problems. Just try not to strain incredibly hard, as that could rip sutures anywhere in your body, especially in the area you are straining.

You might get some stool softeners, or gentle laxatives.

I recommend Prune Juice over OTC or Rx laxatives first, with stool softeners for constipated patients,.. and if that doesn't prove effect then move up to Milk of Magnesia, and to stimulant laxative if that isn't effective. However the softener is key to prevent damage at the colo-rectal area.

At any rate, I would contact the clinic/hospital in the morning with all of these questions. You certainly should not have been left in the dark, and inform them of your constipation -- regardless of if it is chronic (ie: before this occurred) or acute.. as in just occurring following this procedure.

Hope you feel better soon.

  • Lymphocytic enterocolitis in systemic lupus erythematosus Hegazi ...

Microscopic colitis (MC) is a recognized cause of chronic watery diarrhea. It is characterized by subepithelial collagen deposition or intraepithelial lymphocytic infiltration of the colonic mucosa which, however, appears grossly normal on endoscopy. The term microscopic enterocolitis is applied when MC is associated with similar microscopic affection of the ileum and/or proximal small intestine. MC is reported to be associated with a variety of autoimmune conditions. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is rarely reported in association with MC. We report a female patient with microscopic enterocolitis as one of the presenting manifestations of SLE.
